Why Trades Books Matter in Early Childhood (Ages 2–6)

Each trade in the Paula Bunyan Children’s Book Series will be explored through three distinct books — designed to engage young readers from different angles and learning styles.
Vocabulary Adventures
Everyday Heroes
Trade Match Rhymes

The first A-Z book for Electricians is in the illustration phase and expected to be available for purchase by Spring 2026.
Prioritized trades for the journey are:

ABCs of Trades: The Electrician
Rhyming A-to-Z book introducing children to the unique language of the trade. Kids can pronounce “t-rex" and "tyrannosaurus rex,” so why not “amp” and “ampere”?
Early exposure to trade-related words builds familiarity, curiosity, and confidence.

The Electrician and the Dishwasher Dilemma
Role-model stories celebrate the real-world impact of skilled professionals. Children grow up reading about firefighters — so why not electricians as heroes of their own trades?

Could this be for me? The Electrician
Playful, rhyming stories connect children’s natural interests with potential future careers. These books help kids imagine themselves in the trades that fit them best.

Paula Bunyan followed the old mindset of going to college and landing a corporate job. Inspired by her own journey of over 25+ years in a variety of roles, she writes with the intention to shape children's mindsets about careers at an early age. Through her books, she encourages young readers to consider skilled trades and other empowering professions, fostering independence and resilience beyond the confines of the cubicle.
